LeBron James has conquered basketball, built a sprawling business empire and become one of the most recognizable athletes on the planet. Now, the NBA superstar is making an immediate impact in an entirely different arena: YouTube golf.
James officially launched his golf-focused YouTube channel in August, and the response has been staggering. His debut video surpassed 2 million views within its first few days, while the channel quickly climbed beyond 500,000 subscribers, according to reports. The explosive start immediately positioned James as a potentially major player in the rapidly growing world of golf content.
The channel follows James as he embraces a sport that has become one of his newest passions. Rather than presenting himself as an accomplished golfer, the NBA legend is allowing viewers to follow his development, experience elite courses and enjoy the competitive and social elements surrounding the game.
For his first major episode, James delivered something few traditional golf creators could replicate.
The feature-length video reunited him with members of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers championship team, including Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson and Channing Frye. The former teammates traveled to Scotland, where they competed in a 3-on-3 scramble at Castle Stuart Links at Cabot Highlands.
The setting combined golf, friendship and nostalgia. Ten years after the Cavaliers completed their historic comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals, viewers were given an unusually relaxed look at James and his former teammates away from basketball.
James’ arrival also illustrates just how powerful YouTube golf has become.
Creators such as Bryson DeChambeau, Grant Horvat and the Bob Does Sports team have helped transform golf entertainment online, attracting millions of viewers with content that blends competition, personality and access. James was already familiar with that ecosystem, having appeared with Bob Does Sports earlier in 2026.
Now he is building his own platform.
YouTube says James’ channel will chronicle his growing love of golf, with new episodes planned monthly on Saturdays. The content is expected to extend beyond rounds of golf to include travel, food, wine, local culture and conversations with friends.
That formula could give James something particularly valuable as his legendary basketball career moves closer to its eventual conclusion: another media platform built around his personality rather than simply his performance on the court.
The early numbers suggest the audience is already there.
LeBron James may still be learning how to master his golf swing, but when it comes to attracting viewers, the King hasn’t lost his touch.
